WYG Environment If you’re not measuring it you’re not managing it; How the Fenland Green Business Club tools can support you to save energy in your business. Presenters Paul Burr, Associate Mark Burrows, Principal Energy Consultant
Energy Monitoring Tool (inc. Demo) • Provided as part of a package of monitoring tools developed by WYG and made available free of charge to Fenland GBC Members • Energy tool linked to Carbon Dioxide emissions tool (along with Transport) • Available via Fenland GBC or email • On screen demonstration of how to use the Tool to monitor energy use over time
How it Works FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF-IC STUDY COMBINED WITH THEEXPERIENCE OF YEARS
How it Works Key Energy Sections Done Notes How Why Initiative
Key Sections • Energy Management • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning • Lighting • Small power equipment • Motors (industrial only) • Compressed air (industrial only)
Key Sections Energy Management • Improving energy tariffs • Monitoring energy use • Check for anomalies • Commit to saving energy
Key Sections Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) • Control heating/cooling levels closely • Control operating times closely • Insulate the building and HVAC infrastructure
Key Sections Lighting • Keep it off unless required • Replace inefficient lighting • Install automated controls if necessary
Key Sections Small Power • Install timers on applicable appliances • Ensure low-power settings are used where possible
Key Sections Motors • Keep off when not required • Ensure that it is sized correctly • Look at replacing with higher efficiency alternatives • Look at improving the control i.e. variable speed drives. • Ensure it is laser aligned
Key Sections Compressed Air • Keep off when not required • Minimise air leaks • Reduce operating pressure • Cool air supply • Look at using a variable speed drive compressor if applicable.
