The request for Stamford, CT to be designated as a Control City has been denied. While Stamford is situated along the I-95 corridor, it does not meet the necessary requirements for this designation. Existing nearby Control Cities already provide effective long-distance guidance for motorists. However, the installation of additional signage for better location delineation in both northbound and southbound directions has been considered. The New York State Thruway Authority would add guide signs in the northbound direction upon request, while the CTDOT could provide signs in the southbound direction. Ultimately, the SCOTE voted to deny the request.
