Projected Challenges & Solutions • Giving the workshop to the teachers to enhance children learning • Workshop will take 2-3 days, and will cost us some amount of money • After workshop the teachers will know how to interact with the students, and how to teach them in a manner, where they can understand succinctly • The teachers have to encourage the children towards their studies and motivate them each in everyday in the class Statement of the Problem & Proposal In three weeks I will design an informative poster with 7 pictures taken from the internet in Pashto-English about three ways of enhancing children learning (Fabbs, 2011, para.1-2) to enable junior high school teachers (Oxford Brookes University, 2011, para.3) in Afghanistan , so that the teachers can improve their lecture delivery by using textbooks, photo caption, and visual strategies (Miller, 2013, para.6). Methodology Theoretical Background • Photographs are taken and used on a poster • The poster will be shown in schools, courses, and tuitions areas. • Workshops will be given to the teachers to enhance children learning • Teachers will follow the 5 steps on the poster on enhancing children learning • Teachers should entertain the children before starting the lesson and give them a 5 minutes break in each hour The highest level is self-actualization, or the self-fulfillment. Behavior in this case is not driven or motivated by deficiencies but rather one’s desire for personal growth and the need to become all the things that a person is capable of becoming (Maslow, 1970). Statement of the Thesis Theoretical Application Thesis statement: All teachers, principles and staff who do not know to enhance children learning (Fabbs, 2011, para.1-2) in Afghanistan can follow seven pictures on a poster to use interactive teaching methods such as role-play, group work, and making lesson plans before or in-between teaching (Giving, 2013, para.4). As a human being everybody needs good food, shelter, warmth, education , healthcare, and so forth. In Afghanistan children are not treated well, are not well educated, and the education is not that standard, thus we need to enhance children learning and improve the level of education.   39. Theoretical Background • The theory of elaboration claims that “the content to be learned should be organized from simple to complex order”. (Learning-Theories.com, 2007, para.1) • The Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Instruction claims that “people learn better when corresponding words and pictures are presented near each other”. (Mayer, 2011, para.5) • The theory of Repair and Restoration of sleep claims that “sleeping is essential for revitalizing and restoring the physiological processes that keep the body and mind healthy and properly functioning”. (Cherry, 2013, para.3) • The Evolutionary theory suggests that “periods of activity and inactivity evolved as a means of conserving energy”. (Cherry, 2013, para.8) Theoretical Application • In week 1, the design of a poster stage, words and pictures of a poster must be presented near each other for the students to learn and follow (Mayer, 2011, para.5). • In Week 2, the socialization stage, program goals can be obtained from any student who is having sleeping problem (DEVINNEY, 2013, para.2). • Simple instruction can trigger AIU students to distribute the posters in Week 3 and to implement the program in Week 4 (Learning-Theories.com, 2007, para.1). • In the planning stages, the AIU students will be asked to assess their sleeping problems and suggest some possible solutions as well as involve in the finalization of the poster (Community, 2013, para.3).   40. Summary / Abstract This research proposal is designed to address the insomnia issue among AIU students in all programme studies. The idea is to introduce and propose some possible solutions to overcome insomnia amongst AiUstudents. The medium I used to convey my ideas is an A3-sized poster. The research proposal runs for four weeks during the first semester of 2013. Participants interested to join in the programme are required to do an online survey and meet once every two weeks to participate in the insomnia assessment, and receive solution guides that are available on a poster to help them along the way. The anticipated outcome of this proposal is that participants are able to overcome their insomnia by 50% in two weeks. The findings may be useful for other people who are having the same problem. Methods / Procedures INITIATING - examine the feasibility of the programme DEFINING - identify the expectation or outcome of the programme DRAFTING - design a poster PLANNING - look for other members to conduct the programme - position the members into the place - test a poster with the help of 6 students in one week IMPLEMENTING - conduct an online survey and meeting for participants - post a seven solution poster on the announcement boards at the hostels TABULATING - tabulate the data collected ANALYZING - analyze tabulated data DISCUSSION - evaluate the outcome of two-week process Implementation Timeline Week 1 - design a poster (I will use an A3-sized paper to create a seven-solution poster) Week 2 - socialize 6 selected students to follow a poster and revise a poster by me to publish - poste a seven solution poster by 4 selected group members on the announcement boards at the hostel Week 3 - start the programme (All participants will acquire a 7-point rubric to check their own progress) Week 4 - assess the progress of participants(All my group members will use a 10-point check list to record their progress in every three days) FIRST SLIDE LAST SLIDE END SHOW PREVIOUS SLIDE LAST VIEWED NEXT SLIDE

Projected Problems • Ignorance - Some AiU students might ignore some simple things such as sleeping habits, because they are busy with something else (CBCNEWS, 2013, para.2). • Recidivism - AiUstudents might fall back to the prior habits that refute the programme goals (Harper, 2010, para.1). Projected Solutions • Seek help from the school – AiU students will do something if they are forced to do (Katemats, 2013, para.1). • The SCREEN model – AiU students can work together with their roommates and friends or it can be meant one pushes another (Ministry, 2008, para.6).
