C.R.V. - the story so far…. f(x) is the equation of the line or PDF(probability density function) F(x) is the area under the curve or CDF(cumulative frequency function). For a function or combination or functions to be a PDF then the area under the curve(s) will equal 1.

  1. C.R.V. - the story so far….. f(x) is the equation of the line or PDF(probability density function) F(x) is the area under the curve or CDF(cumulative frequency function) For a function or combination or functions to be a PDF then the area under the curve(s) will equal 1. MEDIAN- to find the median you integrate between 0 and m and this will be equal to 0.5 (half the area). This involves quadratic equations QUARTILES - to find Q1 integrate between 0 and ? and the area will be 0.25 etc.

  2. And now.… the excitement of the mean and variance of a CRV MEAN- multiply the PDF by x before you integrate between the entire limits VARIANCE- multiply the PDF by x squared then integrate and subtract the mean squared.
