  1. Mapping RTP streams to CLUE media captures(draft-ietf-clue-rtp-mapping-00) Sept 17, 2012 Editor: Jonathan Lennox Roni Even

  2. Status • Current version expired – will submit revised version before the deadline • Need changes based on current progress in CLUE signaling and MMUSIC unified plan and application ID. draft-ietf-clue-rtp-mapping-00

  3. Taxonomy • Relation between RTP, SDP and CLUE terminology based on draft-lennox-raiarea-rtp-grouping-taxonomy and the CLUE frame work • CLUE media capture is a Media Source producing a raw media stream. According to MMUSIC unified plan it is represented by a single m-line. • Media Source is encoded and packetized to produce one or more Media Streams representing a sequence of RTP packets. • Capture encoding is a media stream or RTP media stream identified by an SSRC. draft-ietf-clue-rtp-mapping-00

  4. CLUE terminology • A media capture can have multiple capture encodings. Example is simulcast where a single media capture can produce multiple capture encodings each having a different resolution. • Open issue: is FEC repair stream a capture encoding? A FEC repair stream can protect a single or multiple media streams from the same media capture but can also protect a capture encodings from different media captures ( FEC repair stream for three capture encoding ecah from a different camera). draft-ietf-clue-rtp-mapping-00

  5. RTP mapping • CLUE signaling propose that the SDP label attribute will be used to map a capture encoding to the SDP m-line. This assumes that each m-line is a media stream and not a media capture / media source [MMUSIC unified] • For simulcast each resolution is a separate SDP m-line with different label. • See open issue on FEC • Current RTP mapping defines captureID attribute. Propose to change to using the general appId. • RTP map can be done using a=SSRC or using a=appId • Next step to update document based on taxonomy and CLUE signaling. Use appID for mapping. • Examples – need to update and look at FEC, MST and simulcast draft-ietf-clue-rtp-mapping-00
