  2. Where does oil come from? Oil can come from a lot of places. For example: • Drilling rigs • Wells • Transportation • Oil tankers

  3. What happens to oil after an oil spill? • Lays on water • Thick • Watery • Thin • Go on shore and sink in sand

  4. Clean up tools and techniques • Boom (rope) • Absorbents (cotton balls) • Skimmer/ vacuum (pipette) • Dispersant (Nano Sand-soap) • Evaporation • Sunlight • Cold water flushing • Warm water flushing • Bioremediation Boom

  5. What animals were affected? Sea otters get oil in there pelt and they get very cold so they can die. When it comes to birds the oil enters there throat. Then they die because they are consuming the oil. Sea turtles like to eat the oil so that is a way that they can die.

  6. What causes oil spills? • Leaking pipes • Methane gas • Bubbles • Expanding in pipes
