  3. College cafeterias offer healthy options and decent sized portions • Vast opportunities for working out • You’re going to end up walking or biking everywhere • Stress of classes, extracurricular, personal life, work can actually lead to weight loss

  4. Myth #9 Best friends should never room together freshman year. TRUE & FALSE

  5. All roommates will get on your nerves at one point • Can either strengthen or break your friendship • Unknown best friends habits can ruin the living situation • If you’re BFFs till death do you part, it just might work

  6. Myth #8 There will be no need to study FALSE

  7. If you never studied in high school, get ready • Cram the night before a physics test? Yea right • High school math test: Simple equations • College math test: Deriving those equations, using them in real life, combining them with others = A lot harder!

  8. Myth #7 You won’t be homesick FALSE

  9. Overwhelming feeling of independence at the start • In 8 hours, you’ll be crying and missing your bratty little sibling • Independence can be quite lonely and scary without parents

  10. Myth #6 Your major determines your career success TRUE & FALSE

  11. Double major engineer & business vs. history major? • Need to show employers willingness to learn • Opportunities available in all sectors • Throw in a couple of random classes

  12. Myth #5 You’ll be broke and living off of ramen FALSE

  13. Many employment opportunities on campus • Meal plans usually included freshman year • Cheap tasty food always available in college towns • If you end up being completely broke, DON’T CREDIT CARD IT

  14. Myth #4 You should go to the most prestigious college to which you are admitted. FALSE

  15. Best option: pick the college that “fits” you best • If you and the college aren’t a good match, you won’t be happy regardless of the prestige • Get to know the schools before you make your choice

  16. Myth #3 Long distance relationships will last. FALSE

  17. For most couples, 2-4 weeks (average) of separation is treacherous • You will meet new people and have new experiences • Feeling of being tied down when all your friends let loose • Very small chance of success (sorry to be a downer on this one )

  18. Myth #2 Even if I get financial aid, I will have large loans to repay when I graduate FALSE

  19. Most colleges allow limited amount of borrowing • Most loans give you up to 10 years to repay • On-campus jobs & paid internships • Grants • Work study

  20. Myth #1 If your roommate dies, you get all A’s DEFINITELY FALSE

  21. No such policy exists at any school • Counseling always offered • Extensions could be provided • If you haven’t been studying, don’t get any ideas
