The Objective of the Project to promote sustainable dialog, networking and cooperation on folklore between Turkish and Bulgarian civil societies including grassroots organizations and the young people by eliminating the existing constraints. raising awareness, increasing mutual understanding, developing dialogue and to maintain communication through the establishment of a social and technological network by conducting activities related to folklore in cooperation the METU-AA, METU, Ankara Club Association and university clubs, grassroots organizations, the OSC and other related associations.

  18. 22 April 2012 – RuseField Visit of Ivanovo Village • The ritual of “Camal” that is a masked tradition of Koşov Village in the municipality of Ivanovo is held. • The chorus of women villagers presented folk music. • Young girls presented folkloric dances and children presented folk music. • METU – TFC Denizli Region presented folk dances. • The regional foods of the region of Ivanovo are offered to the wide audience and the guests. • The mayor of Ivanovo has done the opening of the event and has made conversations with the project representatives and contributor representatives coming from Turkey.

A concensus about the continuousness of the dialogue between students within the framework of the project is established.

  22. 24April 2012 - Ruse“Neighbour Dances and Tunes” Show • The group of Folkloric Dances of Angel Kanchev University presented the songs and dances of Bulgaria and Balkans. • The music group of METU Turkish Folkloric Society performed the folkloric dances of the region of “Karedeniz” and “Denizli” with examples from folk songs of Anatolia and Balkans.

  26. Project’s Expected Results The project will provide various benefits for the target groups and beneficiaries as indicated by the 5 following results: 1- Sustainable dialog on folkloric values will be established between Turkish and Bulgarian civil societies including young people and grassroots organizations and this will further increase mutual understanding and foster new cooperations. 2- THBT students and Ruse University students will have the chance for networking, awareness rising and gaining skills. This will pave the way for future communication, cooperation and joint actions. 3- Grassroots organizations in Turkey and Bulgaria will establish links with each other and with University and youth networks. 4- New contacts will be established among experts, academics and musicians, which will form a basis for them to take joint actions in future. 5- Awareness of the wide ranging target group (including grassroots) on folklore will be raised and this will, in turn, increase mutual understanding.
