This is the biggest misconception when it comes to medicinal cannabis. Most assume that it is regular cannabis that has been packed and labeled to be sold as a medicine instead of being sold on the streets. This ambiguity has led to a lot of bad press for medicinal cannabis and marijuana in general. The form of pot that is sold as a medicine is actually a highly re?ned and processed version of what is sold in the streets. The cannabis plant has over 400 individual substances in it. Most of these do not have any medicinal properties and are therefore removed during the re?ning process leaving behind only one or two substances. Medicinal cannabis is excellent in ?ghting against CINV and can reduce the su?erings of patients undergoing cancer treatment by a huge margin. Research has shown that medicinal cannabis is more e?ective than antiemetics normally prescribed for CINV such as prochlorperazine and promethazine. These medicines can cause severe side-e?ects such as hallucinations and dizziness. Medicinal cannabis on the other hand comes with none of these side-e?ects and can alleviate the symptoms of cancer treatment a lot faster and much more e?ectively.   HIV or AIDS: This disease has a?icted mankind since the 1980s and has been the cause of so many deaths including beloved musicians and actors. Yet almost thirty years down the line we do not have a cure for it. Even though a lot more research needs to take place on this, early reports and studies suggest that medicinal cannabis can be a great treatment option in the ?ght against this horri?c disease. Scienti?c data and testing are lacking in this ?eld and the world governments and medical institutes must put a lot more research behind the possibility of medicinal cannabis being mankind’s only hope in the ?ght against HIV and many of the symptoms associated with it.   Pain: It is not uncommon these days to hear in the news about someone overdosing on painkillers. It is a common occurrence among both regular folk as well as celebs. This is because so many people today are living in pain ranging from the mild to the chronic. This pain can have multiple reasons behind it such as injuries, surgery, a genetic condition, symptoms of a disease, and so on. Once this pain crosses the threshold of what the person can bear they have no other option apart from turning to painkillers. This is the only way for many to lead a life resembling anything that is normal. Unfortunately, most painkillers that have been in the market for years now are very harmful and while they can be e?ective in “killing” the pain for some time, they often come with the added disadvantage of causing harmful long-term health e?ects as severe as organ failure and permanent addiction to these painkillers. Medicinal cannabis is an e?ective alternative to conventional painkillers as they do not cause much long-term damage and are in fact the far safer alternative compared to what is sold as painkillers these days. Again, it is the lack of concrete and conclusive research that is stopping the medical community from fully embracing this side of the therapeutic powers of medicinalcannabis. This too needs to be researched and clinically proven so that many more can bene?t from the awesome healing powers of medicinal cannabis.   Depression and PTSD: With the number of wars we ?ght and the increase in disasters both natural and manmade, one thing that is never in short supply and that is depression. People of all ages are a?icted by this highly debilitating scourge and this is another avenue where modern medicine has failed so far. Most anti-depressants come with a host of side-e?ects that will make you question taking them in the ?rst place. Medicinal cannabis, however, can come to the rescue as it is a highly e?ective anti-depressant without many of the side-e?ects that conventional medicines bring as baggage. In fact, many war veterans su?ering from extreme forms of PTSD have found medicinal cannabis to be the only source of comfort.
