  1. Facts About The Laghu Rudra Puja Sri Rudram and Chamakam are the holiest and greatest Vedic hymns that can be dedicated to Shiva, according to Yajur Veda. These hymns mention the various names of Mahadev while his different aspects and attributes are prayed to after invoking them. When this puja is performed, eleven recitations of the Ekadasa Rudram are done. Each of these recitations consists of eleven recitations of Sri Rudram followed by one Chamakam. What exactly is the Rudram and Chamakam and why is it recited? The Rudram invokes and pays obeisance to the energy of Mahadev in the cosmos. The mantras not only aid spiritual growth but also aid fulfill materialistic wishes. The Chamakam recognizes anything that exists is within us. It basically means that Rudra is present everywhere and everything that is present everywhere has its energy within us. So through the Chamakam we worship the presence of Rudra within us. The Laghu Rudra puja and abhishek is the greatest puja dedicated to Lord Shiva. He has eleven forms of rudra and in this puja all of them are worshipped. Just like the Narayan Bali is performed for the freeing of ancestral souls, this puja helps the devotee grow spiritually as well as achieve all the materialistic things they desire. It involves 4-5 essential practices namely - the Aavahan, Sthapana, and recitation of the Laghu-Nyasam and Rudra Trishati. Apart from these a very important aspect of this puja is taking the sankalpa. Usually this means deciding how many jaapas you will count but here, it allows you to decide what are the benefits that you want to reap through the puja and abhishek. It is believed that the rudra abhishek is powerful enough to fulfill the wishes you made in the form of the sankalpa. Here’s all you need to know about this pious practice. Eleven priests recite the Rudram eleven times, which makes it 121 jaapas of the Rudra. This is followed by an abhishek on each of the eleven rudras with all the eleven dravyas that are to be used in this homa. The eleven consorts of each of the rudras are also bowed down to, after which a yagna is performed with specific ingredients It is believed that Laghu Rudra Puja if performed at the Trimbakeshwar temple at Nasik is highly rewarding and meritorious.
