  1. Maha Mrityunjaya Puja Maha Mrityunjaya Puja is performed to conquer good death. Maha mrityunjaya mantra, also known as Rudra mantra or Tryambakam mantra is mainly recited in Rigveda. This also recurs in yajur veda and atharva veda. This type of mantra is performed when someone suffers from mental, emotional, and physical health. This moksha mantra is set to award immortality and longevity to that particular individual. It is comprehended that Maha mrityunjaya mantra was performed when Chandra was cursed by Prajapati Daksha. At that puja, maha mrityunjaya puja was performed and mantras were recited by numerous rishis as well as sati, the Hindu goddess of marital felicity and longevity. By reciting this mantra and performing this puja, Chandra warded off Daksha’s curse. The latter eventually slowed down, which made Shiva place Chandra on his head. Another historic instance when it worked out was during the unexpected death of Lord Shiva. It can also be chanted while smearing vibhuti at appropriate parts of the body to bag desired results. When it boils down to origin, there is a version believed by the devotees. In the first instance, as already mentioned before about king Daksha’s curse, Markandeya recited Maha mtrityunjaya puja to Sati, Daksha’s daughter. It is also believed that Markandeya was the only one to know this mantra. This mantra, already known as Rudra mantra and tryambakam mantra, connotes the furious aspect of Shiva and Shiva’s three eyes respectively. Maha mrityunjaya puja is a part of the daily routine for many devotees. There are no restrictions as to who may learn and who may not maha mrityunjaya mantra, but whoever chants this mantra, does it with respect. It may be time-consuming, but devotees pay heed to the goodness that will be happening to them shortly. This mantra can be recited whenever any restorative process is undertaken. Out of many temples, one of the temples which continuously perform this ritual is Somnath Darshan, which is situated along the coastal lines of the Arabian sea in Gujarat. Even though some temples have altered their way of pooja, Somnath darshan still sticks with the ancient Indian traditions to maintain a close relationship of Somnath with the release of moon god (i.e) Chandra.

  2. It is also believed that Chandra built the golden temple, Ravana built the silver temple, while the sandalwood temple is built by Lord Bhagavan Shree Krishna. It provides a brilliant experience for the devotees, who get to enjoy fantastic scenery also. Between 8 PM and 9 PM, pilgrims chant ‘Jai Somnath’ and will be displayed a fascinating backdrop of grand Somnath temple along with the wave sounds of the ocean. To make things convenient for the pilgrims, Somnath Darshan offers Sagar darshan atithigruh, a sojourn while seeking blessings from Lord Shiva and other gods as well. The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has forced the pilgrims to change their method of seeking blessings temporarily. Somnath Darshan provides online puja services to its devotees, who can book the time slot and view the puja through a video call.
