Labour Progress Report NSDS2005/6 • 2600 learners supported in learnership agreements, 60% aiming at Artisan qualifications • 2200 learners supported in skills programmes whereas more than 80% included Health and Safety unit standards regarded as highly critical in the sector • 1134 learners supported in bursaries at Technikons & universities in programmes aimed at majority scarce professional skills (Civil engineering, quantity surveying, structural engineering) • 1391 learners registered on ABET level 1-4 SETA Report to Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises

Labour Progress Report NSDS2005/6 • 991 learners supported within the National EPWP Programme: • 538 Construction Supervisor (NQF level 4) • 460 Construction Contractors (NQF level 2) The above includes mentorship programmes for the“contractor learners” in order to support sustainable new venture creation. • 43 bursary students in internship workplace experience that enables them to take up work after completion of the programme SETA Report to Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises

SETA Logo Labour Future Plans for Organisation • CETA has engaged the GDE in an effort to align the learnerships with the FET curricular- Task team in place • Facilitation of workplace experiential placement with FET’s • Encourage learners, particularly women and youth to consider entepreneurship • Continue setting provincial targets on scarce and critical skills • Challenges- Rural provinces are dominated by low NQF level courses.
