  17. “Me to a T” T-shirts • Write: your name at the top of shirt (by neck line) • In the middle of the shirt, write one positive word that describes you (i.e. athletic, hard-working, intelligent, cheerful, etc.) • All over the outline of shirt, write words that describe some of your characteristics and special interests (love to walk, read, have dog and fish, listens to CDs to relax, enjoys talking on the phone, loves shopping, sleeps in on the weekends, plays soccer, etc…) • When complete, tape “Me to a T” shirts on your actual shirt and share with class.

Directions: • Write name and draw a simple picture of something that is unique to you (for example, a picture of a favorite food, sport, hobby, interest, subject in school)

Also introduces you to Venn Diagrams (a type of graphic organizer that can be used many times throughout the year).

  25. “Getting to Know You”Venn Diagram • Gather in groups of three • Talk in your group about yourselves and the things you like to do. • Decide on at least three ways in which you are all alike; write those things in the area of the diagram that intersects all three circles. • Find ways in which you are like one other student in the group and record those ways in the appropriate areas of the diagram. • Determine a few facts that make each of you unique and write those facts in the appropriate sections of the diagram.

When the hands are traced, write one of the questions below (or any other questions of your choosing) on each finger of the hand: • What is your favorite TV show? • If you could choose your future career today, what would you be? • What is your favorite school subject? • If you could travel to anyplace in the world, where would you go? • What is your favorite sport to watch or play? • Write your answers to your questions on the fingers.
