  2. Foreign School Records • Used for grade placement and verification of credits earned. • Foreign school records are interpreted for placement and evaluated for credits at no cost. Please contact us by calling 305-884-2044. • Original records required to grant credits. Submit a completed Foreign Records HEAT Cover sheet with the student records. • Foreign school records may not be available. In these instances, you may utilize the Temporary Student Placement FM 6008 • Foreign school records are not required for registration.

  3. Foreign Student PlacementHEAT Cover Sheet FM- 6957 Fill in as much as possible • Grades KG – 12 complete the HEAT cover sheet when requesting a grade placement or TRACE input for Alg. I EOC. • Step by step HEAT attachment procedures found on FASCO web site

  4. Student Grade Placement The department of Foreign Records and Student Visas assists with immediate interpretation of foreign records such as transcripts, birth certificates, passports, and guardianship letters for proper placement into our school system.

  6. CASE #1 ELEMENTARY Jessica arrived from Venezuela on January 16th, and she went with her parents to register at Sunshine Elementary School. The registrar requested the school transcripts from her parents, and they stated that Jessica was currently enrolled In Kinder II. Should you register this student?

  7. Choose the correct answer(s): a Yes, the registrar should register the student in Kinder. b) No, the registrar should not register the student at all. c) The student should be directed to a Pre-K Program or to come back when Spring Registration opens in April. d) Verify the grade placement with the Foreign Records department.

Student Visa • The Foreign Records and Student Visas department provides assistance with securing completing, and submitting appropriate immigration forms. • This is the only Miami-Dade County Public Schools department with personnel authorized to complete the I-20 form, required for an F-1 and M-1 Visa. • Other functions include the collection of tuition reimbursement, as required by current immigration law only for student visas.

Immigration Issues • Flyer should be posted or distributed to parents to help guide them to answer school related immigration issues. • Foreign exchange students (J-1 Visa) requesting placement in your school are to be directed to the department of Foreign Records/Student Visas in FASCO for processing. Do not sign the IAPP-66 Form (ACCEPTANCE FORM). • Parents, students or staff with immigration issues are to contact FASCO by calling 305-884-2044.
