Mission and Vision • A Global Cosmology Education Academy • teachers and students of all ages around the world will engage in programs and activities to discover their place in the universe through science and engineering education. • Scientists, educators and teachers will develop, support, evaluate, and disseminate innovative strategies for science and engineering education with cosmology as the unifying theme. • A Teacher Focused Academy not limited by geographical location, language or cultural constraints.

May 2007 International ConferenceEinhdoven, Nederland • Goals • Identify ways in which science, engineering and technology curriculum and instruction is enriched and enhanced by the skills and knowledge students will gain in and through learning about the structure and evolution of the universe. • Identify the foundational concepts and principles of science and technology that a 15 year old student must know to be able to understand and communicate the minimum straight forward standard model of cosmology (the big bang model) and the evidence for this model. • Identify and share knowledge of existing and planned cosmology educational standards, lessons, instructional materials and projects for students 9 to 15 years of age.

Future Outcomes • A twenty-first century model for global cosmology education. • A network of teacher leaders, educators, and scientists around the world teaching science, mathematics, and engineering through cosmology. • Evaluations and reports on effective and innovative teaching, learning, and outreach through cosmology education.
