DPP Purpose and Goals • Joint admission / concurrent enrollment • Improve student access, success and baccalaureate degree completion • Expand options for college-level services and curriculum • Improve academic program articulation • Establish new levels of cooperation across traditional levels of education

Research Support “Students who began in public 2-year institutions who had co-enrolled had higher rates of bachelor’s degree attainments and persistence at 4-year institutions than their counterparts who did not co-enroll.” (pg. 19) Peter, K. and Carroll, C. Recruitment and Admissions • Single on-line application, shared fee • University admission requirements (except transfer admission) • Admission deadline • Student permission to share records • http://oregonstate.edu/admissions/index.php • OSU's admission requirements promote student success by assessing student preparedness and academic potential in the unique context of each student's personal experience.

  6. Tuition and Fees • Student adheres to T & F rates and policies of institution offering the course • Residency for tuition is based on institution offering the course • Technology fee at OSU OSU e-mail

  7. Registration and Student Records • Students register for courses through the regular registration processes at each institution • Each school is responsible to maintain enrollment records for their courses • Students coded and tracked at each school • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

  8. Electronic Data Interchange • EDI • The electronic transfer of information between two trading partner’s systems using a set of transactions that have been adopted as a national or international standard for the particular business function.

  9. What it takes to use EDI • EDI server • Internet access • Translation & mapping software • Staffing • Registration • Encryption software

  10. EDI Implementation Timeline • To be ready to test with a partner • 2 – 3 months • Speed process by sharing information between institutions • Testing with trading partners • Approx. 2 weeks each (in real world) • Develop good sample pack of transcripts

Financial Aid and Scholarships • When students co-enroll, credits at each school are combined for financial aid eligibility • Financial Aid Consortium Agreement (FACA) • Students receive aid only through their “home institution” as determined by their degree status and FACA • Student data for financial aid is shared between institutions, including compliance and end of term information (OFAX) • Shared scholarship eligibility in some cases Ecampus/distance courses not eligible for fee remissions

Information TechnologyOFAX: Oregon Financial Aid Exchange • Participating schools send in their data via a secure web site • Local programming is required to create this output file • OFAX server processes file (uses Microsoft SQL Server/ASP technology) • Match on SSN and Date of Birth • Return matching records sent in by other schools via password protected email attachment

OFAX Data Layout • Data is sent/received in comma delimited text file. • The full layout is available from OSAC’s web site. see http://www.osac.state.or.us/ofax.htmlfor more info. • This file can be loaded into Excel and processed manually, or loaded into a database and automated via local programming. • This allows schools to process the OFAX data any way they see fit.

  14. Estimating Tuition and Fees • 2009-10 Tuition and Fees (Estimates Only) • UG Resident $ 6,725, Nonresident $19,417 • Books and Supplies $1,603 • Room and Board $8,352 • Miscellaneous and Personal $2,451 • Estimated UG Totals: Resident $19,179 Non-resident $31,871

  15. Scholarship OpportunitiesProvost Scholarship • Competitive scholarship offered to exceptional non-resident freshman and transfer students. Award amounts vary and are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study with specific renewal requirements to be met by recipients. Students are selected to receive $4,000, $6,000 or $7,000 awards. • Minimum eligibility requirements• Non-residents• Entering Freshman 3.75 GPA OR 1800+ SAT/26-28 ACT • Transfer 3.75 GPA /36 or more credit hours

  16. Diversity Achievement Award • Competitive award offered to entering undergraduate freshman and transfer students aimed at building upon the diversity and educational goals of the university. Evaluation of award application and financial need are also factored into selection process. Award amounts vary from $1,000 to $1,800 (based on financial need) and are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study with specific renewal requirements to be met by recipients. • Minimum eligibility requirements • 3.65 GPA OR 1800+ SAT/26 ACT for high school OR • 3.65 GPA and 36 or more college credits for transfers OR • 3.25 GPA, In addition applicants must meet AT LEAST ONE of the following criteria: • Member of an ethnic minority community OR • Low income status (federal guidelines) OR • Documented Disability
