Things we like about Kilbourne… • More people & more friends • Different students • Different teachers - good & bad • Your own personal space, birthday signs, decorating the inside • More “together sports,” tryouts, school sports • Assist - time to do homework and get teacher help • Cardinal Pride Day - working side-by-side • Foreign language • Getting up later • Pop machine after school

  5. Things we like about Kilbourne… • More respect - treated like we are older • Special event days – Spirit Week and Pep Rallies • Dances • No little kids • Fundraisers • Staff Band • Clap Out • Library - books are at our level • Agenda Books • Choices - lots of activities & clubs

Items to consider for incoming 7th graders • Be prepared for class - you can’t always go to your locker • When the bell rings, you must be in your class • Tiny backpacks only for the school day OR lugging lots of notebooks, binders, & heavy books • Be organized • Don’t be late to lunch • Keep your locker organized • Schedule a bathroom break

  8. TDaP Requirement • Who? All incoming 7th graders must have TDaP immunization prior to enrollment. • Why? This immunization is required by the Ohio Department of Health. • What? It protects kids from Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough.) • When? At age 11 and 12 this shot will show up on your physician’s immunization list. Please send a copy of this immunization record to KMS.

  10. School Discipline • Nathan Davis, Dean of Students • In charge of student services, including discipline • School philosophy: • Kids being kids, they will make mistakes. We have high expectations for student behavior, but when students do not meet those standards it becomes a learning opportunity just like in the classroom. • Consequences are given to correct behavior, not punish.

  12. Reckless Disregard • I should know better than to engage in reckless behavior, but I do anyway. Something bad happens. It is still my fault. • Running in the hallways • Throwing objects • Rough horseplay, etc. • Not malicious in nature • Lack of thinking

  13. Warning Signs • Patterns of behavior that continue even with intervention or increase in frequency and severity • Self-harming behavior • Not just physical • Drastic, unexplained changes in mood/behavior

  20. Registration Form • Family Info/Step 1 • Please put a phone number and email that represent the quickest and most reliable way to contact you. • Review Step 1 and check if needed. 2013 - 2014

  21. Registration Form • Step 2 • Enriched Language Arts is gifted only. • Geometry placement requires current placement in Algebra. • Accelerated Math 7 will be placed based on teacher rec, current placement, OAA, MAP • French or Spanish is a family choice. 2013 - 2014

REQUIRED CLASSES Language Arts Math Science Social Studies Health and Wellness Art (7th grade only) Foreign Language Elective Choices or Math/Reading Lab Assist All students must take a foreign language unless they are a student with special learning needs or do not meet OAA Reading/Math standards. .
