  1. Scarless Double Eyelid Stitching Technique: Achieve Beautiful Eyes Without Scars Double eyelids without surgical scars are created using a sophisticated stitching technique without incisions. Dr Huang has over twenty five years of experience with scarless double eyelid stitching procedure. He has modified and refined it over the years to produce a consistently high quality of results together with a high degree of reliability (i.e. a very low failure rate).

  2. This versatile procedure can be used to create double eyelids in patients lacking them, to create higher creases when existing creases are too low, to address asymmetric eyelid creases, and to correct failed previous double eyelid surgery. Dr Huang will personally plan the design and height of your double eyelid crease together with you, so that your preferences are taken into consideration and you have input into the type of double eyelid crease that he creates for you. The quality of Dr Huang’s work in cosmetic eyelid surgery has received peer acknowledgment in many parts of the world and especially in Asia, and he is a sought after speaker on these subjects. He has been regularly invited to present his work at international plastic surgery meetings in South Korea, Japan, China, and South East Asia. He has also been an invited lecturer at subspecialty meetings on upper eyelid surgery in South Korea. You can therefore be assured that you will be in the hands of a respected and professional specialist known for this kind of surgery.

  3. Procedure The procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete and is usually done under local anesthesia as a day surgery procedure. The injections sting a little, but once the local anesthetic has been administered, there is no pain during the procedure. The stitches are carefully and meticulously placed according to the preoperative markings that were made beforehand by Dr Huang. For increased comfort, oral sedation can be given beforehand, or the procedure can be completed under intravenous sedation.

  4. How to Recovery Postoperative pain is mild and well controlled with oral painkillers. There will be some swelling and bruising. The eyelids will feel tight initially and it will be hard to open your eyes fully, but as the swelling goes down your eyes will open bigger until they open fully, often slightly bigger than before. You will need to apply antibiotic ointment to your eyelids for the first ten days. After this you can start wearing eye makeup and this can effectively camouflage the residual swelling and bruising so that you don’t need to wear sunglasses to conceal your eyes anymore. So the effective downtime is about ten days. Exercise may be resumed after three weeks.

  5. How do surgically created double eyelids become permanent? The long term result of surgically created double eyelids depends not on the sutures inserted to create them in the first place, but on scar tissue that forms around the sutures over time. This is because the sutures will eventually cut through the eyelid tissues and cease to maintain the physical connection between skin and levator aponeurosis. They then simply remain buried within the eyelid tissues. However, by that time, fibrous scar tissue would have formed around the sutures, and it is these fibers of scar tissue that maintain the skin-muscle connection in the long term. Therefore, the permanent result is due to the patient’s own scar tissue, and not the sutures anymore. The more scar tissue is produced, the more likely the crease will be permanent.
