  8. The Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) expertise is primarily medical: they operate 92 hospitals and are using these staff for medical response. 727 medical teams from 92 Japanese Red Cross hospitals have treated more than 67,000 patients

  9. The Japanese Red Cross Society is also providing emotional and psychosocial support in shelters and in the affected communities. 399 Japanese Red Cross Society staff and volunteers have provided psychosocial support

  10. JRCS is also supporting government-run shelters, providing volunteers, blankets and supplies

  11. Water tanks and taps have been set up in evacuation centers

  12. Nuclear Emergency Response: • JRCS is supporting people in shelters from nuclear evacuation zone. • JRCS nuclear radiation specialist team at Nagasaki Red Cross Hospital. • 31 JRCS chapters have specialized equipment for nuclear emergencies.

  13. The Recovery Plan • - Improve living conditions in evacuation shelters, support to transitional shelters, health care; ($340 million in international Red Cross support) • Cash grants program through prefectures ($2.5 billion raised by Japanese Red Cross directly.)
