  2. Types of Fashion Shows • Production Fashion Show: Most elaborate and expensive type of fashion show. It includes backdrops, lighting effects, choreography, and entertainment. • Formal Runway Shows: A typical presentation of fashion models parading on a runway in a certain order of appearance. • Informal Fashion Show: A more casual presentation of garments and accessories. Models walk through the manufacturer’s showroom or the sales floor of a retail store. They carry a sign with information about the merchandise. • Tearoom Modeling: Models walk individually from table to table in a restaurant to show and tell about what they are wearing.

Fashion show terms: • Fittings: Before a fashion show, the trying on of merchandise by models to see how each garment looks and fits. • Merchandise Pull: the removing of fashion show items from the sales floor to a show storage area. • Runway: Elevated fashion show walkways for models that project our from the stage, usually into the audience seating area. • Commentary: A spoken explanation of what is going on in a fashions how, especially pointing out specific features of each outfit being modeled.

  4. Fashion show terms: • Choreography: The planned arrangement of movement, such as specific dance steps or gestured moves in a fashion show. • Lineup: The order in which outfits will appear in a fashion show. • Dressers; People who help fashion show models change and care for the clothes.

  5. Coordinating fashion shows • The physical layout, music, choreography, and commentary must work together to enhance the theme and make the fashion show run smoothly. • Physical Layout: Includes decorations, backdrops, runways, lighting, and props to create the right atmosphere. • Music: Must relate to the age and tastes of the audience. The right music sets the tempo for the show. • Choreography: Used to plan the models’ walking or dancing and the interaction of the models on the stage or runway. • Commentary: This describes the clothing and accessories. The commentator is the show narrator.
