Guaranteed tuition “The guarantee ensures that each young person graduating from comprehensive school will get the opportunity to continue his or her education in an upper secondary school, in vocational education and training, an apprenticeship, a workshop, in rehabilitation or some other setting.” BASIC EDUCATION: • Harmonised learning path > linking of tuition in lower and higher grades • Three-phase support • Flexible basic education FROM BASIC EDUCATION TO SECONDARY SCHOOL: • Supplementary application round in the summer - More admissions to vocational schools • Additional education (10th grade) for those left without a place in a secondary school • Cooperation in arranging additional education and professional start programmes • Coordinated communication of information to prevent marginalisation THOSE LEFT WITHOUT A PLACE IN A SECONDARY SCHOOL • “No place to study?” information leaflet > low-threshold career counselling • Proactive youth work, looking for those in need of help • Workshops and folk high schools MONITORING AND REPORTING OF THE APPLICATION AND ADMISSIONS PROCESS > By career counsellors Lukioyksikkö / Pekka Fredriksson
