  2. Student Responses The following are examples of actual student work submitted from my Literature 1 class during the 2008-2009 school year. The assignment was to pick one of the two passages from the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and paraphrase it in their own words. This was preceded by a lecture on the difference between paraphrasing and analyzing. This assignment was submitted to a discussion board on Turnitin, a fee-based on-line service that provides plagiarism detection as well as other services for writing.
