  1. Real Men Don’t Chapter Three

  2. “The hand that means to make another clean, must not itself be dirty.” • Gregory • 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonif anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good workor. 21 Therefore. 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. • 2 Timothy 2:20-23

  3. Real Men Don’t • Don’t Wear Pink • Don’t ask for direction • Don’t Cry • Don’t need to talk about our problems • Don’t Abandon their wife and family by committing adultery!

  4. The “Heart” of Sin (Murder) • 21 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.26 Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny. • Matthew 5:21-26

  5. The “Heart” of Sin (Adultery) • 27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. • Matthew 5:27-30

  6. Doublespeak… • Doublespeak is one of the biggest problems in the English language, according to a National Council of Teachers state-of-the-language report. They cited the following examples: One stockbroker call the October 1987 stock market crash a “fourth quarter equity retreat.” The Pacific Gas and Electric Company referred to its bills as “energy documents.” The shutdown at the General Motors plan in Framingham, Massachusetts was labeled by the company as a “volume-related production-schedule adjustment.” A recent publication claimed that jumping of a building could lead to “sudden deceleration trauma.” • Richard Saul Wurman

  7. Let’s cut the doubletalk. Let’s put the cadrs on the table. Lets call adultery what it is. In the war on the family, adultery is treason. But we don’t call it treason. We have developed a more refined and sophisticated term. Adultery has become an affair • Pg. 56 • Today we use euphemisms like “Having an affair.” I can’t handle it. A pastor having sex with someone not his wife is not an affair. It’s adultery. We use good words for good things and bad words for bad things, and we confuse people when we use good words for bad things. • Mark Driscoll

  8. Satan’s Deadly Strategy 21     With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. 22     Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, 23     Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life. • Proverbs 7:21-23

  9. Page 69 • We think we know what will secure greater happiness—marriage or divorce, a higher salary or professional recognition, steamier sex or deeper intimacy, a new faith or better spiritual experiences-the list is as long as humans are ingenious in imagining greener grass on the far side of the fence. But we don’t realize how hungry we really are. Small potatoes won’t satisfy. We need a banquet table only God can spread.” • Donald W. McCullough • The lure of adultery is that another human being will be able to perfectly meet your needs, but it is impossible for another human being to fully meet your needs. That’s why adultery is the ultimate hoax. It promises what it cannot deliver.

  10. Questions of the heart to consider • Do I look forward in a special way to my appointments with this person? • Do I seek to meet with her away from the office in a more casual environment • Do I prefer that my co-workers not know I’m meeting with her again?

  11. God’s Simple Strategy—FLEE, RUN, ESCAPE • 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 • 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14 • 8 But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. 9 There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” 10 So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her…12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. Genesis 39:12

  12. Dismiss Teens

  13. Admitting it Could happen to us • “Have you ever noticed how many men in the Bible failed in the second half of life? Our enemy is so cunning that he will wait forty or even fifty years to set a trap…That’s why we can never deceiver ourselves into thinking we are somehow ‘above’ sexual sin. The moment you do you can be sure that your carcass will one day be hanging in cold storage.” (pg. 66)

  14. Group Discussion • Do I believe I could commit adultery? Why or Why Not? • What am I actively doing right now to make sure I never do? • What are some practical ways a man could flee temptation that he is currently facing?
