Enrol in The SSI Open Water Scuba Diving Certification Course in Andaman seahawksscuba.wordpress.com/2025/04/28/open-water-certification-program 28th Apr 2025 The SSI open water diver program is the first level of certification, which is performed in a relaxed, supportive learning environment under the supervision of a highly-trained SSI instructor. After the course is completed, you will gain the required skill set and knowledge to dive into the underwater world. The certification program requires a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 4 days for the course completion. 4-5 hours each day include your academic theory sessions, confined water skills, and actual open water dives. Timings and dive sites might differ on each day based on tides and weather conditions. SSI OWD Program Eligibility for the open water diving program 1. Basic swimming is mandatory 2. Participants must be medically fit 3. Participants must be of legal age Basic swimming is mandatory Basic swimming is a prerequisite to enrol in the open water certification program. A 200- meter freestyle swimming and 300-meter snorkel and float test in the open sea under the supervision of our dive instructor is a must before the commencement of the program. There is no time bar to complete the tests, participants can take adequate time to pass the test. 1/3

2. Participants must be medically fit People looking to participate in open water diver certification must have sound medical fitness. People suffering from chronic health conditions, taking medication or a prescription for any existing disease or who have undergone a recent surgery will have to produce a medical fitness certificate for scuba diving. A medical professional clearance might be required if you fall into any of the diseases prescribed in the DIVER MEDICAL FORM. Participants must be of legal age As per the local diving rules of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, participants must be at least 12 to a maximum of 50 years of age to be eligible for the certification. However, people in the age of 51 to 60 years of age can join the certification course with a fit-to- dive medical certificate. Key contents of the OWD certification 1. Scuba dive certification E-learning Material (Theory) First of all, participants have to register themselves with their full names in the SSI App. Then, Seahawks Scuba assigns e-learning material for the initial preparation of the certification program. E-learning Material is essential to have an overview of the SSI open water certification. It can be completed as per your comfort and before visiting to Andaman islands. 4 Open Water Dives SSI open water certification includes 4 open water dives during the course of your certification program. The actual dives are disturbed daywise as stated below. Day 1. One shallow dive up to 8 meters deep at Nemo Reef dive site Day 2. One boat dive up to 12 meters deep at Tribe gate dive site Day 3. Two deep dives up to 18 meters deep at the Wall and Slope dive sites 20 Confined Water Skills The SSI open water diver program covers 20 confined water skills which taught by dive instructors during the actual dives. These skills are essential part of open water certification and play vital role to safely dive up to 18 meters of dive depth. It includes regulator recovery, buddy breathing, controlled swimming ascents, buoyancy control, mask clearing, and emergency procedures like weight belt drop, and so on. 2/3

3. Scuba dive certification At the end, a written exam is conducted to check your expertise, which you have learnt during the program. Once you pass the exam, an SSI open water certification is assigned to you on being a comfortable yet confident diver.
