Feign Fān Verb Other forms of the word: feigner (noun) Feigningly (adverb) Definition: pretend to be affected by (a feeling, state, or injury) Example: The man feigned nervousness when told by a coworker that he may be getting fired. A good way to remember: When you feign an injury you are faking it.

  3. Indolence ˈindələns noun Other forms of the word: indolently (adverb) Definition: avoidance of activity or exertion; laziness. Example: His indolence stopped him from going farther in his job A good way to remember: Indolence is the opposite of Exerting energy

  4. Abhorrence abˈhôrəns noun Other forms of the word: Abhor (verb) Definition: a feeling of repulsion; disgusted loathing Example: His abhorrence for any culture other than his own led him to discriminate against others. A good way to remember: Abhorrence for something is to have hatred for it.

  5. Malign məˈlīn adjective Other forms of the word: maligner (noun) malignly (adverb) Definition: evil in nature or effect; malevolent. Example: A malign rumor about the teacher may have led to her dismissal. A good way to remember: Malign has the same meaning as malevolent.
