This chapter provides a comprehensive review of key statistical concepts: mean, median, and mode, designed for 5th-grade students. It explains how to find the mean by summing all numbers in a set and dividing by the count of numbers. The median is defined as the middle value in an ordered list, with special cases when two numbers are center. The mode is the number that appears most frequently in a set. Helpful links for further learning are also included to enhance understanding.

Chapter 6 Math Review 5th Grade May 2010
Mean • Set of numbers (a, b, ….., z) • Find the sum of all the numbers in the set. a+b+….+z= Total 3. Count up the number of items in the set. 4. Divide the total in step 2 by the number counted in step 3. (a+b+…+z)/(# in set)
Median • Order the set in numerical order. • Find the number that is in the middle of the list. This is the median. • If two numbers split the center, the average of these numbers is the median.
Mode • Put the items in the list in numerical order • Find the number that occurs the most • A set of number can have 0, 1, or multiple modes
