This guide outlines the correct methods for handling and maintaining rubber pads used in PCB applications. Improper handling, like bending the rubber or using sharp objects, can damage the pad and prevent proper contact with the chip. It is recommended to handle rubber pads only by the edges and use coated gloves. For cleaning, avoid brushes and wet swabs, as they can leave dust or damage the material. Instead, utilize 3M Scotch Magic Tape to effectively remove dirt without causing harm. Follow these steps to ensure optimal performance.

1. Handling the Rubber Pad • Incorrect Handling Method Ifthe Rubber is bent, the chip will not make contact with the PCB • Sharp tweezers or other sharp objects will damage the PAD, if handled improperly Dirt or other dust particles may smudge the PAD, preventing contact with the chip
1. Handling the Rubber Pad • Correct Handling Method Handle the PAD only on its edges Use coated gloves when handling the PAD
2. Cleaning/Maintaining the Rubber PAD • Incorrect Maintenance/Cleaning Method Using a brush of any form will leave dust or dirt on the Rubber PAD Using a cotton swab with cleaning chemicals or even water will either damage or melt the Rubber PAD
2. Cleaning/Maintaining the Rubber PAD • Correct Maintenance/Cleaning Method • Apply 3M SCOTCH MAGIC TAPE onto the area where the Chip and the Rubber PAD make contact to remove the dust/dirt • Recommended Model: 3M – MP - 18 • Warning: Applying too much pressure onto the Rubber PAD may cause damage 10Cm If using an AIR GUN, hold the gun approximately 10cm directly above the Rubber PAD Using 3M SCOTCH MAGIC TAPE to remove the dust/dirt left on the Rubber PAD
