  2. Ten Steps to Success • Try. • Try again. • Try once more. • Try it a little differently. • Try it again tomorrow. • Try and ask for help. • Try to find someone who has done it. • Try to determine what is not working. • Try to determine what is working. • JUST KEEP TRYING.

  3. BEFORE THE EOG • Begin to review/study the material days or weeks before the exam. • When studying for many hours, take study breaks every 20-30 minutes.

  4. If you become stressed, take time to do some type of physical exercise to help you to relieve stress and tension.

  5. Eat a complete breakfast and get plenty of sleep the night before the test.

  6. Skim the material and decide which parts are still difficult and which ones you understand best.

  7. If you don’t understand what you’ve read, go back over it again.

  8. Pick out main ideas or key terms. Think up possible test questions and quiz yourself.

  9. Read aloud and study with a parent or friend

  10. Remain MOTIVATED and positive always. If you are motivated about learning, you are likely to remember the information.

  11. Your brain believes what you tell it, so always keep a positive attitude by telling yourself you WILL do well and that you know a great deal of the information • Do not give up before you begin.

  12. Make and use flashcards to learn material. Quiz yourself

  13. Study a little each day rather than at the last moment!

  14. Test Taking Tip #1 Think positively about doing your best!

  15. TestTaking Tip #2 • Take a few deep breaths to relax. Clear your mind of anxious thoughts and worries.

  16. Test Taking Tip #3 • Push your feet down on the floor to the count of five. • Push them harder and harder. Relax. Repeat.

  17. Test Taking Tip #4 • Bring all necessary materials for the test.

  18. Test Taking Tip #5 • Listen carefully to all directions, and ask if you don’t understand the directions completely.

  19. Test Taking Tip #6 • Read each question carefully before answering. Read the whole question and all answer choices.

  20. Test Taking Tip #7 • Carefully read key words, such as not or opposite.

  21. Test Taking Tip #8 • Always read words that are in bold print oritalicscarefully.

  22. Test Taking Tip #9 • Eliminate Answers you know are not correct.

  23. Test Taking Tip #10 • Work on the easiest problems first to get as many points as possible.

  24. Test Taking Tip #11 • Skip difficult questions, as you may find information later in the test that will help you answer these, and return them to later.

  25. Test Taking Tip #12 • Be sure to mark your answer to the proper question on the answer sheet.

  26. Test Taking Tip #13 • Go back and answer questions that you skipped.

  27. Test Taking Tip #15 • Double check your answers by re-reading the questions to make sure that you haven’t made any mistakes.

  28. Test Taking Tip #16 • If there are questions you don’t know the answer to, even after eliminating all of the options, choose the same answer to these questions.

  29. EOG Retest is around the corner. Begin studying NOW! You can make a 3 or 4.
