  3. What is the initiative of the government on the situation?

  4. 1.Send more than 30,000 soldiers from the central part into the conflict area.

  5. Soldiers’ duties. • Give protection to people and government officers especially teachers who always be the target • Patrol, check on and arrest separatists in different areas • Give villagers vocational knowledge and skills

  6. What happened after the soldier came into the conflict area? • Government officers and people got more protection but most of the time the soldiers themselves are the target of attacks. So, people and officers are more scared to be with them. • Many people were arrested, some with guilt and some are innocent. • Some soldiers used violent tactics against the villagerssuch as Takbai event. • There is mistrust between and among the villagers when the soldiers hire someone in the village to be their spies.

  14. B. LIVELIHOOD • We have baking class for housewives • We have duck raising for the out-of-school and unemployed youth • We have nutrition and food processing for women

  15. C. PEACEBUILDING • Course on Peace building and Conflict Transformation for Youth in Pondok School • Healing Program

Community Learning Center • Our activities are for children to come to study at the center with our volunteers who are experts of educational development. • Our volunteers will teach languages, life skills, and EQ promotion. • Our volunteers do many home visits to make sure that parents of our students know and participate in the students' development.   18. Day Care Centers • We have a day-care center for pre-school kids. Our volunteers will be both babysitters and teachers. • We teach Islam and other subjects to the kids at the center and also provide activities that promote skills and development in moral, EQ and IQ • The center opens from Monday to Friday. • The center provides free lunch for kids everyday.   19. Scholarship • We give 50 scholarships to continuously good academic students every year to encourage them to continue with their studies. • We follow up closely with students who get our scholarship. Back

  20. Peace Studies • We provide knowledge on peace building and conflict transformation for students in pondok school to have more understanding about conflict and be able to prevent violence. • We encourage our youth to gain more knowledge in peace and use it in their daily lives. Back

Healing youth affected from conflict • We organize group healing training, home visiting and networking among affected youth from different areas. • We aim for our youth to be able to apply learned knowledge to themselves, friends, families and community. • We encourage the community to support the affected youth.
