  2. Course structure: 4 Units • Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning • Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning • Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning • Principles of assessment in lifelong learning

  3. Course Delivery • 8 week programme, 1 day a week, split between: • Theory of teaching and learning – how to plan programmes and lessons, develop resources, assess learners, understanding legislation, motivating learners and managing behaviour • Workshops and tutorials related to assignments • 2 days devoted to practical teaching : micro-teach sessions, with self, peer and tutor evaluation

  4. Assessment • 4 assignments, 1 for each course unit: • A case study about the roles and responsibilities of the LLS teacher • A mock interview presentation based on how to develop inclusive teaching and learning strategies • An essay on principles of assessment • 30 minute micro-teach to your peers and tutor.

  5. Entry Requirements • Literacy and numeracy assessment to ensure you can cope with the written content • For future progression in teaching, you will need at least a level 3 qualification in your subject specialism or a degree • And will need to achieve L2 in Literacy and Numeracy

  7. I had lost my confidence in teaching and this course has motivated and developed me I have learned so much – I have realised that I still know how to write essays and reference them. I have improved my pc skills and learnt how to do presentations I have become more motivated and feel like I have done well and achieved and made personal progress. I feel a lot more confident when addressing people. I feel equipped with the skills to plan, teach and assess a lesson

  9. Qualification changes • During the next year, FE colleges will be moving over to deliver the new preparing to teach qualification, L3 Award in Education and Training, 6502 • The content of the award is the same as the PTLLS 6302 qualification but units 002 and 003 will merge and the assessment has been updated by City & Guilds.
