  2. APE Sandwich • Think of your short answer questions as an APE Sandwich • A- Answer the Question • P- Prove that Answer • E-Explain the Proof

  3. Answer This is your bread. • Your first sentence of your short answer should be the actual answer to the question. • For Example: • What do the left-handed twin and the right-handed twin bring to the world? • A- The left-handed twin and the right-handed twin brought balance into the world.

  4. Prove This is your meat. • Your second sentence of your short answer should be the textual proof of your answer. It should be a direct line from the story, that will PROVE the answer. • For Example: • What do the left-handed twin and the right-handed twin bring to the world? • P “So the right- and the left- handed twins built balance into the world.” (pg 42)

  5. Explain This is your bread. • Your third sentence of your short answer should be the EXPLAINATION of your proof. It should explain why the proof sentences backs up your answer. • For Example: • What do the left-handed twin and the right-handed twin bring to the world? • E- The Iroquois believed that the left and the right signified good/evil, which balanced out the world.

  6.
