Enhancing Multicast Management in BGP/MPLS VPNs with MIB Configuration

This document outlines the Multicast VPN MIB (MCAST-VPN-MIB) developed to configure and monitor multicast traffic in BGP/MPLS IP VPNs. It builds upon draft-rosen-vpn-mcast and provides comprehensive management capabilities through collaboration with existing multicast MIBs and the IF-MIB. The MIB includes various information categories: generic data regarding MVRFs, configuration settings for multicast settings in VRFs, protocol-level details, and a notification for operational changes within MVRFs. This standard will evolve alongside mVPN technology.

The managed objects here work closely with those in MPLS-L3VPN-MIB. This MIB, when used along with already existing multicast MIBS and the IF-MIB, provides a detailed mVPN management capability. ietf.org
