  1. Adonai The Lord is my Master

  2. First, Lets review

  3. Where have we been so far? • The Lord God, the One who created me • El Elohym • The Lord God, the Most High of all • El Elyon

  4. Today – Adonai – My Master • The word Adon means master or lord • Adonai is the divine form of Adon – “ai” means supreme • Abraham calls Him Adonai in Gen 15 • Note difference between Lord and LORD • We are all slaves to something – Romans 6:16-23

  5. The Lord is My Master • First, get the cultural picture of slavery out of your mind – that was not indicative of Jewish slavery • Adonai signifies complete right to rule • Complete possession over of the servant by the master, complete submission to the master by the servant • Deut 15:12-17

  6. How do you honor Him as Adonai • Acknowledge Him as Master – you have been called to serve Him – are you willing • Recognize that with Him as Master, He has now taken personal responsibility for all of it • Your provision, health, care, clothes, etc • Accept that you can do whatever the Master has called you to do

  7. Christ is our Adonai • In Greek, the word Adonai is Kurios – used 700 times for Jesus in the NT – Savior is used less than 20 • So we must submit to Christ as our headship, our Master, our Lord to experience the full life • Is it possible to call Him Lord and not experience this full life? Absolutely • Matt 7:21-27

  8. And servant would have been enough! • John 15:9-17 • It is a Holy Upgrade!
