  1. LCLS Linac/BC1 Readiness for December 2006 Commissioning P. Emma LCLS WeekOctober 26, 2005

  2. TCAV0 e e Jan. through July ’07 Commissioning through BC1 in 2007 Full set of beam diagnostics at each tune-up point 250 MeV 4.3 GeV 13.6 GeV 6 MeV 135 MeV rf gun L0 BC2 BC1 L1 L2 L3 X …linac undulator SLAC linac tunnel research yard

  3. Linac-0 to Linac-1 no laser-heater sE gex,y and slice RF deflector E

  4. Linac-1 to BC1 CSR relative bunch length monitor? BC1 sE stopper X-band RF gex,y E slice gey

  5. No BC2 in 2007, but possibly TCAV3? Need off-axis screen in 25-9 and BXKIK in 25-2d (or leave TCAV in sec-29) RF deflector

  6. Magnet Power Supply Plans in Place P. Bellomo

  7. High-Level Applications Needed • Bunch length measurement with transverse RF deflector(s) • Emittance meas. (multi-wire, multi-OTR, quad-scan, slice) • background subtraction • rms from profile data (Gauss-fit, rms-calc, baseline-cuts, etc) • Power-steering through beamlines, with corrector weights • Difference orbit fitting, including internal kick

  8. sy Bunch Length Measurement using Trans-Cavity APPLICATION Klystron “on/off” control phase shifter control y-position feedback loop kicker “on/off” control data analysis and plotting image digitizer KLYSTRON GALLERY RF TUNNEL e- S-band y-BPM pulsed x-kicker (sec-25 only?) sz transverse RF deflector (LI21 or LI25) on or off-axis screen

  10. Dispersion Correction & Trajectory Fitting

  11. Magnet Polarities/Labeling Defined MMF will measure magnets and clearly label polarities

  12. Linac Commissioning Plans

  13. feedback on DIpk/Ipk0 (%) Longitudinal Feedback (use CSR P/P) feedback off J. Wu at undulator entrance

  14. CSR as Relative Bunch Length Monitor J. Wu CSR detector is critical to LCLS stability

  15. Summary • Magnets and power supplies in good shape • Diagnostics (wires, OTR’s, BPMs) questionable • CSR bunch length monitor questionable • High-level applications just starting development • Feedback software unknown • MPS/BCS/PPS needs work Electron beam commissioning through BC1 starts Dec. ’06 !
