  8. A simple thought to reduce idling, is a savings of approximately $5,000 a year. The drivers took a pledge to stop idling for the health of the children, fuel economy, as well as the community and their own health. I am proud to say, the drivers combined reduced their idling by over 12 hours a day. Approximately every hour of idling uses a ½ gallon of fuel.

  9. Studies conducted by the American School Bus Council indicate: • Over $40 million are saved annually by transporting our Utah School children on school buses. • Over 11 million gallons of fuel are saved each year, with over 86,000 fewer vehicles on the road. • With each bus replacing 36 vehicles, traffic congestion is reduced and harmful particulate matter is reduced by thousands of pounds! • Nationally for every 32,500 children transported, one life is saved a year. In Utah, that is at least lives each year.
