  3. DearFriends! We would like to show you our beautiful town. It is located in the region of Dolny Śląsk, 60 km to the south of the capital of our county. There are 38 000 inhabitants. It is near to the Sowie Mountains.

  4. The statue of St. Jan Nepomucen

  5. Jan Nepomucen died because of a conflict with the kingWacław IV. The statue was erected in 1776. It then disappeared from outside the town hall for 91 years and returned there in 2002.

  6. The town hall in the market square

  7. The town hall tower was built between the 13th and the 14th century and it is around 47 m high. From the top you can see a panoramic view of Dzierżoniów and the surrounding area.

  8. The Józef Kellner tenement building

  9. The tenement was built in 1802. Nowadays there are the offices of the „Tygodnik Dzierżoniowski” newspaper there. It has remained unaltered for 200 years, even the original carpentry remains. Józef Kellner was so proud of the tenement he built that he wanted it recorded on his grave stone.

  10. The church of the immaculate conception on Klasztorna Street

  11. It was built in the gothic style in 1340. This small, picturesque church used to belong to the monastery of Augustians, which originally was buit next to it.

  12. The church of Mary the Mother of the Church

  13. It is one of the most valuable sacred monuments of Dolny Śląsk. It was built between 1795 – 1798. It was built in a classical style, it was designed by Gotthard Langhaus, who also created the famous Brandenburg Arch in Berlin.

  14. The water tower in Dzierżoniów

  15. It was built between 1934 – 1935. The tower is 25 m high. Before World War II it was made available to the public as a viewing point.

  16. The town walls

  17. The walls were built at the end of the 13th century under the instructions of Prince Bolko I. After many wars they were rebuilt. In the 19th century many portals were built into the wall from materials taken from demolished tenement buildings in the market square. On one of the arches you can see the town crest, on which St. George is killing the dragon.

  18. The synagogue

  19. The synagogue is located on Krasickiego street. It was built in1875. It is worth visiting. The synagogue recreated from sand by the members of the camp.

  20. The church of St. George

  21. The church of St. George is located on Kościelna Street. Legend says the church may have already existed as early as 1159. In the 14th century a large tower was erected.
