Qualifications Bookkeepers don’t have to be formally educated in the field of accounting. They are not required to have a four-year degree but need to have a working knowledge of business finance. Since you only need them to record the transactions, they just need to be good at organization and basic arithmetic. Accountants are far more qualified than bookkeepers. In order to become an accountant, you need to at least have a degree in accounting and must be familiar with the tax laws. Since accountants are needed to analyse financial data, they are required to have strong analytical skills and need to be well-versed in accounting software.
