  2. A causal loop is a series of events c1, c2, c3, … cn such that c1 is a cause of c2 which is a cause of c3 which… is a cause of cn, which is cause of c1. • Transitivity: For any events x, y, and z: if x is a cause of y and y is cause of z, then x is a cause of z. causal loops

  3. If time travel is possible, then causal loops are possible. • If causal loops are possible, then self-caused events are possible. • Self-caused events are not possible. • [So] Time travel is not possible. the bootstrapping paradox

  4. If time travel is possible, then object loops are possible. • Object loops are not possible (at least not physically possible). • [So] Time travel is not possible (at least not physically possible). the restoration paradox

  5. If time travel is possible, then causal loops are possible. • If causal loops are possible, then uncaused things are possible. • Uncaused things are not possible. • [So] Time travel is not possible. the ex nihilo paradox
