Cricket News – IPL 2021: Sourav Ganguly recalls the biggest setback of his career Former India captain and the current Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly went through several ups and downs in his cricketing career and also faced some tough time where things did not go in his way. The former Indian captain, while speaking at a virtual promotional event, recalled the biggest setbacks of his career when he was stripped of his captaincy in 2005. He said that “life has no guarantees,” and one has to deal with the pressure. “You just have to deal with it. It’s the mindset that you get into. All of us go through different pressures, ups and downs and at times you just have to bite the bullet,” he added. After playing at the highest level, it is about playing more games and keeping up the performances as well. Being the president of the BCCI, he also opened up on the current scenario of bio-bubbles. He said that Indian cricketers are “more tolerant” to deal with mental health issues than the overseas cricketers. He also said that he has played with a lot of English, Australian and Caribbean players and they would “just give up on mental health.” His comments came after international cricket resumed amid the crunch time of COVID-19 and the players have been forced to stay in bio-bubbles where their stays have been restricted between hotels and stadiums with no access to people from outside as well. And these conditions make lives extremely difficult for the players to stay motivated and fresh for any series or tournament.
