  5. Proper Use and Storage of YOGA Laptops • Shut down (power off) each laptop prior to storing. • Match laptop number to the slot in the cart. • Plug in the laptop. • Plug the cart into the electrical outlet at the end of the day and double check that each laptop is plugged into the cart.

Classroom Management • Allow time at the beginning of class for check out. • Assign the same laptop to the same student each time. • Monitor student use of laptop by proximity. • In the classroom, no food, candy, gum or drinks near the laptop. • Allow time at the end of class for returning laptops – Students should not leave the classroom until all laptops have been checked by the teacher and are safely stored in the cart.

  9. Now You Try It • Staff pick up laptop from the cart. • Turn on using power button on the right side of laptop. • Complete the checklist on the student protocol list (next slide).

Checking Out Assigned Laptops Student Protocol Pick up assigned laptop and check the following for damage: • The screen (scratches or cracks) • The keyboard (any keys missing) • That the redTrackPoint point stick is in place (Mouse tracking) Students must report any damage immediately to the teacher.

Checking In Laptop Teacher Protocol It is the teacher’s responsibility to Check the following: • The screen (scratches or cracks) • The keyboard (any keys missing) • That the redTrackPoint point stick is in place • Make sure that the laptop is properly and completely shut down. Next Student returns laptop to the cart in the proper slot *If laptop is damaged or missing, follow building protocol (no student leaves the classroom until administration or security approval)

  12. Now You Try It Use the teacher protocol to do the following: • Pick three laptops near you to check for return per protocol. • After your laptop has been checked, please return and plug into the cart.

  13. Please do your best to take care of these laptops. With proper care, they should provide several years of use for our students.
