  2. What are CEUs? The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized system of recording and recognizing participation in noncredit professional educational programs.

  3. CEUs • Licensing bodies e.g., NM Regulation and Licensing Department, Construction Industries Divisionrequire members to obtain CEUs to maintain their license. • Requiring CEUs encourage professionals: • to expand their knowledge, and • stay up-to-date on new developments.

  4. CEUs for the Construction Industries Division The State of New Mexico Construction Industries Division (CID) requires continuing education for renewals of journeyman certificates of competence in every three (3) year period. • minimum of sixteen (16) hours of approved continuing education course work. • Eight (8) hours are specific to code change/update • Eight (8) hours may be of other industry-related approved course work. 

  5. Journey Licenses under the NMCID New Mexico issues contracting licenses in approximately 100 different classifications. These classifications can be found in the New Mexico Administrative Code, Title 14, Chapter 6.
