Marketing standards • New General Marketing Standard (fair, sound & marketable) – apply to all products covered by the sCMO (Reg 1234/2007) • Existing provisions maintained & may be streamlined in the future • Sectoral marketing standards can be adopted by delegated acts • Possibility to introduce mandatory indication of Place of farming for all products: • on a case by case basis • subject to impact assessment.

Conclusions • Objective of this enhanced quality policy is to ensure the EU has the right tools to help farmers better communicating the qualities of agricultural product, and thus getting a fair price for their products. • Next steps: • Discussion in the European Parliament • Discussion in the Council • 2012 at the earliest adoption of the Regulation on agricultural product quality schemes by Council of ministers and European Parliament
