16. After speaking to the senate you return to Constantine. He gives you 20 points, a new shield and sends you off to fight the barbarians. After speaking to the senate you return to Constantine. 18. Achievement unlocked! 10S – Dude! Sweet! You head off to the Roman province of Dacia to fight the barbarians. Your less than brilliant soldier friend yells another question to you. a. 19. You arrive in Dacia. You are greeted by a barbarian guard. So, um, are you going to hit me or what?! ‘Ey man, wait a sec’ I gots somethin’ ta tells ya! What will you do? a. 20. The barbarian then explains that he is angry at the Romans for making him pay too many taxes and putting so many of his people into slavery. Ya, the roads and aqueducts are nice but being a slave sure isn’t!

21. You wave goodbye to your new friend the barbarian and return to Constantinople to tell his story. In doing so, you ask Constantine if there isn’t some other way he could solve the problems of the empire.

He wants the barbarians to follow him no matter what. He thanks you for meeting with the barbarians but explains that no longer needs you. He is going to crush the barbarians once and for all.

24. Constantine may have made the empire strong, but it didn’t last. 100 years after Constantine the barbarians finally destroyed Rome. Constantinople remained for another 1,000 years but the Roman Empire was essentially destroyed. It had become too big to control and too many of its people had become angry. Many parts of the empire remain with us today. Architecture, art, language, law, religion, government and our ideas about freedom and citizenship all are greatly influenced by the Romans.
