  14. Achievement unlocked! 5S – Bar bar bar! You reach the capital and hurry to the palace. Constantine tells you to go tell the Senate that barbarians are planning an attack on the city!   15. Achievement unlocked! 10S – Yeah dude! One of your fellow soldiers (who isn’t the smartest guy in the world) yells a question to you across the palace. REMEMBER: The Roman Senate “helped” the emperor make decisions. We also have a Senate in the US today. a. A group of people who make decisions. b. A building where laws are made. YO DUDE! WHAT IS A SENATE??? c. A person who rules like a king.

  16. After speaking to the senate you return to Constantine. He gives you 20 points, a new shield and sends you off to fight the barbarians. After speaking to the senate you return to Constantine.   17. Hooray for jesus! REMEMBER: Constantine believed that Jesus Christ told him to take control of Rome and make it a fully Christian empire. It was Constantine who officially accepted the Christian religion.

  18. Achievement unlocked! 10S – Dude! Sweet! You head off to the Roman province of Dacia to fight the barbarians. Your less than brilliant soldier friend yells another question to you. a. A building used by the government. b. A city in the Roman Empire. YO DUDE! WHAT IS A PROVINCE??? c. Lands conquered by the Roman Empire.

  19. You arrive in Dacia. You are greeted by a barbarian guard. So, um, are you going to hit me or what?! ‘Ey man, wait a sec’ I gots somethin’ ta tells ya! What will you do? a. Challenge him to a fight. b. Bribe him with 5 points. Oh, ya…sorry about that… c. Talk to him about why he is mad. It takes you a week to recover from the beating and costs you 10 points in hospital bills.

  20. The barbarian then explains that he is angry at the Romans for making him pay too many taxes and putting so many of his people into slavery. Ya, the roads and aqueducts are nice but being a slave sure isn’t!

  21. You wave goodbye to your new friend the barbarian and return to Constantinople to tell his story. In doing so, you ask Constantine if there isn’t some other way he could solve the problems of the empire.

  23. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR! Constantine tires of the discussion. He wants the barbarians to follow him no matter what. He thanks you for meeting with the barbarians but explains that no longer needs you. He is going to crush the barbarians once and for all.

  24. Constantine may have made the empire strong, but it didn’t last. 100 years after Constantine the barbarians finally destroyed Rome. Constantinople remained for another 1,000 years but the Roman Empire was essentially destroyed. It had become too big to control and too many of its people had become angry. Many parts of the empire remain with us today. Architecture, art, language, law, religion, government and our ideas about freedom and citizenship all are greatly influenced by the Romans.
