  9. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest SOIL - seed starting and pots Potting soil is made for use in containers. It allows the roots of the plant to ‘breathe’ Find a potting soil that is organic to avoid chemical ‘wetting agents’

  10. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest SOIL - out in the garden The fluffier the better Try not to walk on it Add lots of compost Grow some cover crops

  11. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest Compost Making your own, simplified version: i. learn what greens and browns are ii. mix greens and browns roughly 1:2 iii. keep it moist but not soaking iv. turn it over every once in awhile v. when it looks like soil, add to garden

  12. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest Manure A little goes a long way, particularly if you’re using compost as well Fish Emulsion Great for an extra nutrition boost for seedlings

  15. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest WEE SEEDLINGS Don’t let the soil dry out Uncover them as soon as you see them poking through the soil Brew a spot of chamomile tea

  16. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest LARGER SEEDLINGS Keep an eye on moisture Potting up: i. add more compost ii. add pulverized eggshells Fish emulsion for liquid nutrition Air flow for sturdy plants Gradual intro to real sunlight

  17. Organic Gardening Overview: Seed to Harvest PLANTING OUT Shady or overcast time of day Compost and more - feed the seedlings Water them well Speak to them kindly and give them kisses Keep an eye on the weather for a few weeks
