  1. The potential for WSMO in SEKThttp://www.wsmo.org/2004/d19/d19.3/v0.1/ 2nd WSMO F2F, 2004-06-14 Jos de Bruijn Digital Enterprise Research Institute jos.de-bruijn@{deri.at, deri.ie, uibk.ac.at}

  2. 2 statements • Disclaimer: This presentation contains the potential for cooperation between WSMO/WSML/WSMX and SEKT and the potential for reuse for each other’s results. Thus, it contains nocommitments. • WSMO is an SDK Working Group and is as such funded by the SDK projects. SEKT is an SDK Project, therefore cooperation should be tight where possible and reuse of results across the projects should be high. jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}

  3. Outline • Overview of SEKT • Reuse across projects • Web Service description of SEKT components • Ontology infrastructure for WSMO case studies • Cooperation between projects • Ontology Language API • Semantic Web rule language • Conclusion jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}

  4. Two-fold R&D goal of SEKT • To further develop a basic Semantic Web infrastructure • To use Information Extraction and Machine Learning techniques to generate and populate ontologies on the Semantic Web jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}

  5. Overview of SEKT jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}

  6. Reuse across projects • WSMO Web Service description of software components developed in SEKT • Can be seen as WSMO case study • Reuse of SEKT SemWeb infrastructure for WSMO case studies • Semantic Web services jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}

  7. Cooperation between SEKT and WSMO • A Language Neutral API for Ontology Interchange - WSML D18 • WSML provides a good platform for the development of an ontology API, which can be used by both SEKT and DIP; we can set a world standard! • Rule language for the Semantic Web • Development of a Semantic Web rule language is a major goal of WSML • SEKT needs a rule language for ontology mediation • Let’s cooperate! jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}

  8. Conclusion • Reuse: • Describing SEKT SW components as SWS • Using SEKT SW infrastructure for WSMO case studies • Cooperation: • Ontology language API • Semantic Web rule language • SEKT is part of SDK; WSMO is part of SDK: let’s work together! jos.de-bruijn@{deri.ie, deri.at, uibk.ac.at}
