The Presentation of Child Care Arrangements on Television” with Dr. Debra Schleef An analysis of child care arrangements in television programs of the last three decades, comparing them to real life counterparts. Literature reviews Coding Data from TV shows Writing Research Reports No prior experience necessary 1st and 2nd year students with good attention to detail and excellent writing skills

Current Sociology Major Requirements Socg 100, Social Problems Socg 200, Principles of Sociology Socg 364, Quantitative Research Methods and Analysis (3-credits) Socg 365, Qualitative Research Methods and Analysis (3-credits) Socg 471, History of Social Theory or Socg 472, Contemporary Sociological Theories 21 additional upper-level sociology credits (excluding internships) (May include 6 credits of upper-level anthropology) New Sociology Major Requirements Beginning Fall 2008 Socg 155, Social Issues -- no longer required May count as an elective in the major Socg105, The Social World Socg 364, Quantitative Research Methods and Analysis (4-credits) Socg 365, Qualitative Research Methods and Analysis (4-credits) Socg 471, History of Social Theory or Socg 472, Contemporary Sociological Theories 18 additional sociology credits (excluding internships) 15 of these must be upper-level (May include 6 credits of upper-level anthropology) Changes to Sociology Major

Changing to the new requirements • Currently-declared sociology majors may elect to continue under the old requirements or change to the new requirements. • Current majors who have already completed Socg 364 and/or Socg 365 will of necessity remain under the old requirements. • Students who declare a major in the Fall of 2008 will fulfill the new requirements. • Current majors wishing to switch to the new requirements should contact Patsy Hockaday in Academic Services (GW Room 207, Ext. 1267).
