  2. Let’s face it: after being in rehab is really hard for patients to start again. It is not because there are no opportunities but sometimes patients feel discouragement or they are being judged. Many patients have beaten this kind of anxiety but all didn’t undergo to this struggle easily. This is the reason why living in sober living homes can be ideal. I you are still not convinced; here are 5 reasons why sober living can be a great choice now.

  3. 1. Better Support System In sober living homes, being in group therapies give the remarkable benefits through sharing individual experiences. By this, there will be a collective brainstorming of ideas to help themselves. Being with the people, who have also experienced the struggles and dependence on drugs or alcohol, is the best firsthand knowledge to fight addiction. It can also create friendship even after the program which is a great help for the life after rehab.

  4. 2. Smoother Transition Sober living homes can be a great step from challenging patients to face the real world but being still being in a controlled environment. It provides a smoother transition for patients not to be overwhelmed after the program facing the outside world.

  5. 3. Men and Women are separated Almost every sober living home is for one gender. This is because people can express more their emotions and experiences with same sex. Sometimes there is inhibitions and awkwardness for patients to tell their stories to the opposite sex. It can also discourage romantic gestures for both parties. Being back on the track means that patients must be emotional stable. Having a relationship with another patient can be messy and sometimes destructive. It is advisable for patients to be focused more on their selves rather than investing emotions to others while still in treatment.

  6. 4. Discipline is practiced Having absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol is achievable in sober living homes. Also, there are random drug and alcohol content tests while the patients stay there so possession of drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited. Also, there are routines that can help patients to be focused and set small goals daily to practice goal settings.

  7. 5. Preparation for Outside Life Healing takes a lot of time. There are a lot of cases that patients hurt their loved ones and friends because of their addiction. It is difficult to face and engage the people that were affected by the patient’s struggle. By being in sober living homes, the patient can practice focusing on being a better person after rehab.
