  3. The Mission: • Educate students while supporting them socially and emotionally as they develop into responsible 21st Century learners. The Solution: • Provide an excellent education for every student through a positive working relationship between the school and the community that encompasses: • the SIC (school improvement council), PTA parent teacher association), and GAC (guidance advisory council)

Goal 1: Raise the academic challenge and performance of each student and implement and refine, as appropriate, a process for the continuous development and updating of 21st Century curriculum that is innovative and rigorous for all students Actions Results Improved student performance Positive relationships between caring adults and students • Create, implement, and maintain an Early Risers’ Club for students achieving below expectation on the PASS reading and math tests or scoring in the first quartile on the MAP in grades 3-5. • Support a Bobcat BrainBuilder tutoring program for enrichment and remediation during the school day.

  7. Buena Vista was established in 1984. At that time, the school motto was adopted as “Someplace Special”. After study and discussion the SIC and the staff determined that we ARE still ‘someplace special’ and will strive to remain that way in Greenville County and the fine state of South Carolina.
