Understanding French -IR Verbs: Conjugation and Common Examples

In this lesson, we explore the third group of French verbs known as -IR verbs. This is the last category of regular verbs after the -ER and -RE groups. We'll cover common examples such as "finir" (to finish), "choisir" (to choose), and "maigrir" (to lose weight). You'll learn how to conjugate these verbs by dropping the "-ir" ending and adding the appropriate endings: -is, -is, -it, -issons, -issez, -issent. For instance, "je finis" means "I finish." This foundational knowledge will enhance your French vocabulary and verb usage.
