  1. Why parents choose IGCSE schools in India? Many parents choose to enroll their kids in an IGCSE school. IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is an English language curriculum. It is meant for students who want to prepare for the IB (International Baccalaureate), A Level and BTEC Level 3. This curriculum was developed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. Based on the GCE O- Level and considered equivalent to the GCSE, the IGCSE is an international alternative to several popular national curricula. This is like a qualification that is based on individual subjects of study. This means that students get IGCSE qualification on each subject that they study. In an IGCSE school in India, curriculum is predominantly exam-based. This means, they are certified ‘courses’ but rather examinations that are meant for testing knowledge in individual subjects. A broad and flexible study program is provided under the Cambridge IGCSE. This program covers various subjects from areas like- social sciences, mathematics, languages, humanities, creative, technical and vocational. There is a choice of tiered examinations offered in most IGCSE subjects. Formed in 1988, this comprehensive two year programme is spread over Class 9 and 10. It is similar to the Class 10 level examinations at the CBSE, ICSE or IB programme. There are mainly two UK assessment bodies that conduct IGCSE assessment – CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) and Edexcel (Also known as London Examinations). If a student has passed the IGCSE examination, he/she is eligible for +2 level qualification. Choosing IB Curriculum IB (International Baccalaureate) program is also a popular curriculum. IB is a non-profit educational foundation that offers four programmes of international education. Its primary school curriculum is quite popular. Under the Primary Years Programme, students are prepared to be active and caring learners who respect themselves as well as others.
